Micro Waterjet, LLC was formed through a partnership with Waterjet AG
and Max Daetwyler Corporation
to bring micro manufacturing services for advanced abrasive waterjet
technologies to North America. We serve a broad range of markets to
include aerospace, automotive, electrical, job and machine shops, art
and architecture, medical, motorsports, watch components, and many
other advanced manufacturing, specialty applications.
Waterjet AG was founded to develop the Abrasive WaterJet Micro Machining® (AWJMM®) technology for MicroWaterJet™ waterjet cutting machine, the first of its kind in the world. As a seasoned contract manufacturer, Walter Maurer, Director of Waterjet AG in Aarwangen, Switzerland, decided to co-develop a high-precision waterjet cutting technology to meet and exceed his customer’s expectations. His source of inspiration was a collection of unfulfilled customer inquiries he had collected over several years. Working with a regional technical institute in Switzerland, all of the important components such as pressurization, valve, ductwork, cutting head and abrasive system were analyzed during a two-year research project.
Today, the result is an abrasive water jet that is bridging the gap between existing cutting
technologies including EDM and Laser.
Home to Micro Waterjet LLC as of 2009, Max Daetwyler Corporation USA opened its doors on Long Island, New York in 1975 to sell the company manufactured Doctor Blades for the gravure printing industry and to service equipment manufactured by the parent company in Switzerland. The company quickly expanded, relocating to Huntersville, North Carolina in 1990 to continue the sale of products and services. The facility operates a mechanical and electrical engineering department for contract research and development and a precision custom fabrication and machining shop for manual milling, drilling, turning, grinding and CNC cutting, as well as welding specialty material and working with exotic plastics and metals.
