TECHNI Waterjet™ Lenexa, Kansas, has announced Micro Waterjet LLC will be teaming up with TECHNI Waterjet’s pump line, the Quantum NXT Electric Servo Pump, on their ultra-high precision cutting micro waterjet.

The companies are combining the two technologies to take advantage of high precision cutting and the latest in high pressure pump technology within the US market. Micro Waterjet will set up a demonstration machine in TECHNI’s Advanced Applications Lab at their US headquarters in Lenexa, Kansas. The new micro waterjet C4 will be housed within TECHNI Waterjet and will be complete with our Quantum NXT Electric Servo Pump.  Micro Waterjet is able to achieve a cutting accuracy of +/- 0.01mm and a positioning accuracy of +/- 0.003mm with the C4 micro waterjet.

“Micro Waterjet LLC is happy to have teamed up with Techni Waterjet, so that we can put together the most innovative pump technology, using Techni’s electro servo pump paired up with high precision cutting technology from Micro Waterjet,” said Managing Director, Steve Parette.

“Techni’s ESP pump is a natural fit for the precision Micro Waterjet’s C4 and F4 machines offer. The Quantum NXT is the most innovative, efficient, quietest and intelligent pump on the market, so the technologies complement each other very well” said Techni Sales Manager, Jim Fields.

TECHNI is thrilled to partner with Micro Waterjet to join both waterjet cutting technologies for the most innovative micro waterjet cutting system in the United States.

white-paper-cutting-methods-coverAs one of the most innovative technologies on the market for precision cutting of parts and components, Micro Waterjet has presented a leading-edge alternative for clients struggling with other cutting methods. Today, however, the company has taken their problem-solving approach a step further by publishing a comprehensive comparison guide that details the strengths and weaknesses of all major available cutting methods.

“Getting the right results the first time is what clients expect in this field,” explained Steve Parette, Managing Director for Micro Waterjet. “Understanding the possibilities and limitations of a cutting method before engaging a project is a vital first step in making sure that happens.”

The digital white paper covers not only the Micro Waterjet technology, which is capable of delivering .010 mm accuracy across a wide range of materials with little or no burr and zero heat deformation – but also reviews other common cutting methods such as wire EDM and laser, among others.

The purpose of the piece was to address the concerns Micro Waterjet had been hearing from clients that had experienced failures or less-than-desirable results from other methods. “We’re definitely not saying Micro Waterjet is the ideal solution for every imaginable scenario,” continued Parette, “but we do know there are situations where the accuracy of our process is the best solution.” As covered in the guide, some of those gaps include delicate or soft materials such as rubber or silicone, as well as precision parts needed with minimal burr or post-production finishing – such as watchmaking, aerospace, electronics, and other highly sensitive equipment manufacturing operations. “Our ultimate goal is to help empower clients with the knowledge to make the most of their project in terms of timing, budget, and finish quality. That is one of the greatest services we can provide – expertise.”

Micro WaterjMWJ C4 MACHINE 1 JPG (2)et LLC has expanded their line of Precision Waterjet Cutting Machines to include the new micro water jet ® C4 . This new model incorporates all of the precision features of the original waterjet machine into a unit with a smaller footprint. Shops where available floor space was a concern or where wider substrates aren’t necessary can now include the micro water jet ® C4 in their operations with ease.

“The micro water jet ® C4 is ideal for specific applications and in research and laboratory work,” said Steve Parette, Managing Director, Micro Waterjet LLC. “Operations that do not re
quire wide substrates or have limited space and budget available will especially benefit from this technology. This system provides the flexibility for fast prototyping or justintime production.”

The C4 features a footprint of 1,500 mm x 1,800 mm and travel range for X/Y axes of 540 mm x 320 mm and 50 mm for Zaxis. Precision is key with the micro water jet ® C4 . With a positioning accuracy of ± 0.003 mm, cutting accuracy of ± 0.01 mm (depending on material and thickness) and kerf width of 0.2 mm (0.008″), users are assured of part-to-part consistency. And, a narrow kerf width, minimal burr on the cutting edge, and little to no rework (finishing) results in higher quality and faster production.

The micro water jet ® C4 provides high cutting speeds with utmost accuracy and surface quality equivalent to N7 or Ra1.6 μm. Low cutting forces and no thermal impact maintain the integrity of the material’s structure. Users will have the ability to cut a wide range of materials from rubber to hard alloys Micro Waterjet, LLC was formed through a joint venture between Waterjet AG and Max Daetwyler Corporation to bring micro manufacturing services for advanced abrasive waterjet technologies to NorthAmerica. They serve a broad range of markets including aerospace, automotive, electrical/electronic, machine shops, jewelry, medical, motorsports, research labs, and many other specialty applications.

Robotic_Arm_2aHuntersville, NC, January 21, 2015: A Colorado man made history at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) this summer when he became the first bilateral shoulder-level amputee to wear and simultaneously control two of the Laboratory’s Modular Prosthetic Limbs. Micro Waterjet created a variety of parts in this device for the fingers, hand, wrist, arm and shoulder for their customer, HDT Robotics.

“Micro Waterjet has been working with HDT Robotics since 2009 on numerous projects” Stated Steve Parette, Managing Director, Micro Waterjet LLC. “During this time, the engineering team at HDT became very familiar with the capabilities of Micro Waterjet technology. For this particular project, Micro Waterjet manufactured 23 different parts for this device. They are located in the fingers, hand, wrist, arm and shoulder. Seeing breakthroughs like this certainly shows what can be achieved with modern manufacturing, and represents true value to those of us who make these individual parts.“ For more information on the Robotic Arm, please visit John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory’s website.
