Watch Making

Meyer Tool Huntersville has recently had the opportunity to utilize our optical measuring system for reverse engineering. We were approached by Jim Ellzey, a watchmaker who specializes in restoring antique watches. He was struggling to find a way to re-create the lightning bolt hands for this highly sought after watch, so he sent us a set of original watch hands for us to use as models. This enabled us to use the Micro-Vu system to measure these hands and create drawings. The drawings then had to be manually adjusted before creating a cutting program.

Jim was amazed with the results and sent us this photo showing the new minute hand installed with an original hour hand. The watch hands are made from 0.008” thick copper.
